33 Swedish women had their uteruses removed as a result

The error occurred when the hospital noticed an unusual statistical variation in the diagnostic data and began re-examining the samples as a result.

The hospital has told the women about it orally and apologized for what happened.

The women were between 38 and 85 years old.
