Frederik “NoWay” Hinteregger’s professional career was actually over four years ago, but the now 32-year-old wants to do it again in 2025. According to current reports, he is moving to the island and wants to compete there in the League of Legends regional league against big teams like Los Ratones.
Where did the message come from? The leaker Wooloo, who is responsible for such news, has reported (via sheepesports) that NoWay has reached an agreement with the organization “NORD Esports” and will be moving there for the 2025 season. Ex-professional Santorin has already been confirmed as the jungler there.
NoWay then reacted ambiguously to this leak in a stream. On the one hand, he cursed how the journalist could know that, he was a mystery. Ultimately, he gave in and seemed to confirm the leak: He would play in the league with 4 ex-professionals from the LEC and try to beat the “content team” Los Ratones. But he didn’t want to confirm whether he really plays with Santorin at NORD Esports, but rather seemed to deny it.
In any case, NoWay has big plans for 2025.
NoWay wants to play together with 4 ex-LEC professionals
Why is this surprising? It was already suspected that NoWay was moving to the NCL, but actually thought he would stay with his two NNO team members Tolkin and Karni and look for two British or Scandinavian players to fill the league’s requirements. But for the two Twitch streamers Karni and Tolkin, the first British league is probably a step too serious and would take too much time away from their streaming or casting.
The NCL is the Nordic league of LoL: teams from Great Britain and Scandinavia play here. To be able to play in the league you must have 2 players who were born in Great Britain or Scandinavia. All these years the league has been fairly insignificant, with the focus being more on France, Spain and, to a lesser extent, Germany. That will change in 2025.
Who are the “big boys” he plays against then? It looks like there will be some big names playing in the NCL in 2025. In addition to Crownie or Rekkles, there should also be Jankos and Perkz.
We’re talking about people who were among the absolute best in the world 5 years ago and were in the final of the World Cup in France in 2019. NoWay never reached the international level as an active player; that was the end of it at the national level.
But it is very attractive for NoWay in every respect to compete with such players.
LoL, chess and mud are on the program for NoWay
These are the plans for NoWay: As the 32-year-old revealed, he has set himself an extremely high workload for 2025:
Regional leagues in LoL are seeing an influx of streamers and ex-professionals
This is what lies behind it: A rule change at Riot Games will make it really attractive for streamers to play competitively in League of Legends for the first time in 2025. That’s why Lol’s regional leagues are currently experiencing a rush of former professional players and successful Twitch streamers.
Before 2025, it was practically impossible for streamers to play competitively in the leagues because the rules severely restricted their ability to stream, their “day job”.
NoWay is moving away from the German league because the Nordic league is certainly more attractive competition, but also because there was bad blood with the German league: In the German LoL scene there is an ugly clash between the big streamers on Twitch and the league
