The group consists of five employees in Örebro and one in Mora. Over the past year, the group has helped to investigate gang criminal crimes and the cold cases have ended up in the cloud, even though some tips have been received.
– You have to like the situation. If there are no resources to handle the emergency, you have to step forward, says Mikael Nyqvist, Criminal Commissioner cold case.
30s unresolved cases
In the Bergslagen police region there are about 30 unresolved cold cases. The list is also expected to be longer during the work.
– The hope is, of course, that we will come to prosecution in one of these cases.
Samples on analysis at NFC
Right now, a variety of evidence is analyzed with DNA tracks from several of the unresolved murders at the NFC, National Forensic Center. Both old DNA tracks are re-examined, but the group has also submitted previously unproven material for analysis.
