The May sun has kicked up in large parts of the country and given us summer heat like never before.

Could it possibly last?

It looks dark, according to Lasse Rydqvist, meteorologist at Klart.

May has been extra hot this year, with temperatures above 20 degrees in several parts of the country.

– We come from a very long period of cold, so now summer heat is coming to the whole country for quite a long time, says Lasse Rydqvist.

In some parts of Jämtland, summer has arrived a month, or even eight weeks, earlier than normal. All thanks to the spring sun.

30 degrees on the west coast

During Thursday, the pretend school story continues. In Gothenburg, temperatures reach up to the 30-degree mark.

– It is not quite usual for it to do so in May. Otherwise, it means the warmest May day since the record year 2018.

It will also be hot along the Norrland coast, over 20 degrees in several places.

Rain on entry

However, it is important to enjoy the sun while it is here. After rain comes school light – but after sunshine also comes rain.

– There will be rain and showers in quite a few parts of the country. In a stretch from Värmland up to Norrbotten there may be elements of thunder, says Lasse Rydqvist.

However, he believes that it is a much-needed downpour that is coming.

– It is really dry in forests and land in large parts of the country.

By the weekend, the weather is expected to pick up, and it will be a few degrees warmer, according to SMHI. However, showers are still expected over Västra Götaland. According to SMHI, the weather at the beginning of next week will be broadly warm and unsettled.
