The man in his 40s from Uppsala, the so-called “Kurdish fox”, is believed to be abroad and is currently suspected of a series of crimes, including preparation for murder and extremely serious drug smuggling. In addition, according to SVT’s police sources, he is being linked to the wave of violence that is sweeping Sweden this winter.
The man has been known to the police for a long time, among other things he was convicted in 2009 by the Uppsala District Court for handling smuggled cocaine from the Netherlands, which resulted in a long prison sentence for serious drug offences. He has also been convicted of racketeering and ran various kiosk operations in Uppsala.
Took a market share
– When he was released from prison in 2018, he went from having been a person who had been in prison for a large part of his adult life to taking a large part of the market share of drug smuggling to mainly central Sweden according to the police’s suspicions, says SVT’s crime reporter Diamant Salihu .
The police could see that when in 2020 they got access to decrypted chats between a large number of criminals in Sweden.
The police are said not to have noticed the extent of his position in the drug market before they saw the chats.
Cops surprised
– My image is that he flew under the radar at first, says Diamant Salihu. Many police officers I have come into contact with are surprised at how quickly he was able to build some kind of drug empire.
– Then followed a kind of cat and mouse game with the police. By then the “Fox” had left the country. First for Iraq, and he will now be in Turkey where he has become a citizen.
SVT’s reporter Diamant Salihu has been following the man for some time and also in an SVT documentary tried to find him in Turkey, hear him in the clip above.
