3 new MMORPGs have been announced

This week, 3 new MMORPGs were introduced that could hardly be more different. One relies on pirates, one on many features and one is made in cooperation with Twitch streamers. There was also a lot of news about WoW this week, a scandal in FFXIV and New World has announced a new update for next week.

The highlights of the week:

  • The streamer group OTK around Asmongold and Mizkif are working on a new online RPG in Unreal Engine 5. They are now looking for players for their playtests. In addition to the streamers, the former WoW developers Chris Kaleki and Douglas Frazer are also involved in the implementation.
  • Uncharted Waters Origins is a new MMORPG on Steam and is scheduled for release in 2023. Highlights are the huge open world, pirate ships and well-known historical figures that you should be able to meet.
  • The Quinfall convinced in the first trailer with strong gameplay and many features. It is scheduled to be released on Steam in 2023.
  • The excitement of the week: In Final Fantasy XIV, the best raiders in the world have had their rewards stripped away. The reason given by the developers was unauthorized addons that were used. There has never been anything like it in the MMORPG before.

    New World brings new rankings, Lost Ark a new class earlier

    This is what happened in the big MMORPGs:

  • In WoW on February 8th, 13 specializations will be buffed, but two healers will be nerfed. Blizzard also announced an adjustment that would make a rare mount much more common. Blizzard itself made headlines for having to pay a $35 million fine over the sexism scandal.
  • The boss of ESO announces that he finally wants to solve the biggest problem of EU players. We have also adjusted the calendar for the 2023 events. In addition, the new DLC Scribes of Fate has been brought to the test servers.
  • Lost Ark has revamped the roadmap and is now releasing a new class a month early.
  • Guild Wars 2 released a new patch that allowed jade bots outside of the new expansion and brought new achievements to WvW (via GW2).

  • A player farmed the same minigame for 8 years in Old School RuneScape to set a crazy record.

  • NCSoft West (Blade & Soul, Lineage 2, Aion in America) has laid off 20% of its employees. However, this should not affect the release of Throne and Liberty (via MassivelyOP).
  • Zenith, the VR MMORPG, is launching its alpha for PS VR2 and has announced a new update featuring Housing (via Zenith).
  • As announced, the sandbox MMORPG Fractured has gone offline. The return is planned for March, the boss announced on Discord.
