Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
Platforms: PC (Steam), PC (MS Store), Xbox Series X|S | Developer: Fatshark | release: September 13, 2022 | Payment model: Buy2Play | site: Official Website; Steam; MS store
What is Darktide? The same developers are behind Darktide as behind Warhammer: Vermintide 2. The new Hack’n’Slash is the spiritual successor of the series, just in a different setting.
In the famous world of Warhammer 40,000, you play as a troop tasked with cleaning up one of the Empire’s oversized hive cities. The city of Tertium is in danger of falling into chaos and you should prevent this.
With a group of up to 4 different characters, you shoot, saw and conjure your way through proverbial floods of opponents, defeat champions and bosses and drive back the chaos bit by bit.
The dystopian sci-fi game relies on co-op and joint efforts in increasing levels of difficulty, in which you can experience the story divided into missions over and over again.
Who Should Watch Darktide? Anyone who has enjoyed Vermintide or is interested in games like Left 4 Dead or Back 4 Blood will also enjoy Darktide. The game principle is almost identical.
In addition, Darktide is suitable for anyone who likes Warhammer and dirty science fiction. Unlike in the more well-known Warhammer parts, in which you often play the superhuman Spacemarines, you are more of a foot soldier here who just has to clean up.
Darktide relies on 3D and first-person perspective, so it differs significantly from classic Diablo-style hack’n’slays, which are mostly isometric. You can find out more about the game in GameStar’s detailed review of Warhammer 40k: Darktide.
When and where is the release? Darktide will be released on September 13, 2022 for PC and Xbox as an exclusive title. A PlayStation version is not in sight for the time being. Although the game is set to be a buy2play title, you don’t necessarily have to buy it.
Darktide is one of 36 new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2022 and 2023. So if you just want to test it out for now and have subscribed to Game Pass anyway, you can take a peek inside from there.
