3 nerds are arguing about Diablo 4

It’s been a few weeks since the Diablo 4 beta. Blizzard released a lot of new info during this time, but not all of it was well received. MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus spoke with GameStar podcast boss Michael Graf and Twitch streamer Maurice Weber at CAGGTUS 2023 about whether the anticipation was getting bigger or smaller and what the biggest concerns about Diablo 4 are.

I absolutely loved the Diablo 4 beta and Blizzard really showed me that Diablo 4 is going to be the game I want it to be. It will certainly be perfect, but it has everything I expect from it.

I am not alone with this opinion. Thousands say they enjoyed Diablo 4 so much that everything else has become dull. It’s not that bad for me, but I’m really looking forward to the release in June.

Since the end of the beta, Blizzard has finally been providing us with new bits of information and at least partial answers to some of the most burning questions, such as the big question about Diablo 4’s endgame content.

Together with Michael Graf and Maurice Weber, I talked live for an hour about what is actually new that has now become known, how it changes our view of Diablo 4 and what we expect from the game.

We recorded our impression for you. You can find the video on the new GameStar Talk channel on YouTube or embedded right here. I apologize for the guy with the circular saw, he annoyed us all:

“Diablo should avoid being like Path of Exile”

In our talk we talked, among other things, about what we now know about Diablo 4, what we still want and what Diablo 4 has to do to be good.

In the meantime, many of the endgame mechanics are known, some of which are extremely well received, others rather disappointing, but which are not yet explained in detail. The character development after level 50 is also rather difficult to classify.

Here are some of our contributions to the new findings:

On the whole, however, we all agree that Diablo 4 is absolutely sufficient for its current status. Despite the expensive price, I’m sure there are enough hours of play to justify the money.

Of course, the conversation also included a comparison with Diablo’s biggest competitor. Path of Exile appears to have posed as a model for some of the ideas, and the discussion surrounding the two titles has occupied fans for years – particularly in the recent past:

Fans have been arguing for weeks whether Path of Exile is bigger than Diablo 4 – one wants to provide the definitive answer
