Shooters sometimes have an undeserved reputation for being stupid shooting games. But not every game with weapons is equal to Moorhuhn. Nevertheless, some really stupid things can happen in modern shooters like CoD Warzone, Fortnite or Valorant. We at MeinMMO tell you the 3 dumbest things you can do.
No matter how different shooters can be, the basics are almost always the same. Take a gun, aim it at the enemy and pull the trigger at the right time. Sounds simple, but it isn’t always.
With all the hectic pace and complex mechanics of modern shooters, even the most thoroughbred professionals can make really stupid mistakes. And hand on heart: which of these 3 incredibly stupid things have you done the most often?
A lot of stupid things can happen in Fortnite. The trailer for Season 3 shows many innovations that will cause a lot of (unwanted) chaos:
1. The chain of unfortunate events
Occasionally bad gameplay in shooters is part of it even for the absolute professionals, because nobody is always 100% error-free. But it gets particularly stupid when several mistakes happen in a row.
A clip from xQc just went viral that perfectly sums up this chain of unfortunate circumstances. The world’s most popular streamer and former pro shooter plays so horribly badly in CSGO in so many ways in a matter of seconds, and all of it gets his teammate.
You can admire the hilarious clip and the very understandable reaction from xQc in all its glory here:
4 million watch the world’s largest Twitch streamer become a noob at CS:GO in 36 seconds
A really bad gameplay sequence like this has happened to every shooter fan before. There’s not much more you can do than xQc here: try to hide in your own palm and take it with (hanging) humor.
2. The overly fat finger
The plan is perfect. Your Ultimate ability is charged, the whole team is ready for a gigantic combo that will blow up every single enemy at once and demoralize them for the rest of the game.
You rally, wait in ambush for the enemy team, want to sit straighter in the chair again… and then it happens.
You’re not sure how, but you pressed the one button you shouldn’t have pressed. Your character screams loudly, a firework of deadly effects shines on your monitor, but all rockets only land against a completely harmless wall.
Your teammates stand behind you and can’t believe it. Team chat now says “WTF”, “???”, “wow” and “SilentKiller47 has left the game”. You look down at the keyboard and don’t quite understand why that damn finger is on the Q key. Before you can figure out the answer, your team is dead.
Extremely stupid. Now you’re sitting in the keyboard settings and have completely changed the function. Surely this won’t happen again! At least that’s the idea. Then in the next match you have to press Q and desperately bang on the button while nothing happens. And the chat fills up with question marks again.
Damn.
3. The reloading madness
You and your beloved submachine gun with the perfect meta loadout fought your way to base. You are exactly where you need to be. All you need is some patience and resilience to take that base and win the match.
With your excellent headphones you hear that there is a motion sensor in the corner of the room that could reveal your position. Easy. You aim, you fire exactly one silenced shot – BOOM. The sensor is broken, no one will know where you are, your defensive position is brilliant. You are the perfect ninja and you aim for the only entrance in front of you. Whoever walks through there will be struck down immediately.
But something is wrong. You have an extremely bad feeling. Your hand starts to sweat, your index finger twitches nervously, and you already know what the problem is. In the bottom right corner, the worst picture in the world shows its cruel face:
You didn’t reload after shooting the sensor. What for? You’ve got more than enough bullets in your gun to kill the whole team.
But what if not? What if just one ball is missing to win?
You will hear the footsteps of several players moving towards your position in steps. “Fuck it,” you think to yourself, “I’ll reload just to be safe! I’ve been sitting here for ages and nothing has happened, what are a few seconds?”
With a perfect view of the door you’ve been staring at motionless for minutes, you press Square on the controller with a big chest. It comes, as it must. Even as the 98% full magazine plops out of your SMG, the entire opposing team runs through the door.
The first player sees you waving around in panic, aims for your head, and pulls the trigger once. In an almost coma-like state of shock you look at his killcam. It only took one bullet to kill you. His magazine wasn’t even full when he entered the room.
There is only one question floating around in your head with full clarity. It’s the one sentence that always gives you back your full self-confidence: “WHERE WAS MY TEAM?!”
Do you recognize any of these situations? What’s the most common shooter crime you’ve committed? And do you have any other stupid things you would add to this list? Feel free to tell us in the comments!
If these stupid moments happen to you too often, you might even be the shooter player nobody wants on the team. Here, too, we have a list for you that sets out a few general observations in shooting games:
