It is not yet clear whether Netflix will order a second season of 3 Body Problem. But the showrunners already have concrete plans for what the series adaptation of Cixin Liu’s sci-fi novels could look like in the future.
The sci-fi series wasn’t able to reach its full potential in the first eight episodes. As Game of Thrones creators DB Weiss and David Benioff and co-showrunner Alexander Woo reveal, fans can look forward to a scene in season 2 of 3 Body Problem that overshadow everything that came before becomes.

Even before the Netflix launch, the 3 Body Problem team spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about wishes for the future of the sci-fi series. The film adaptation of the Trisolaris trilogy should ideally last 4 seasons in which the unusual invasion story becomes increasingly ambitious and massive. Or as David Benioff describes it:

Because with season 1 we only saw the beginning of a big saga that can only show its great strengths in further seasons. The Game of Thrones co-creator is already teasing Red Wedding level highlight for Season 2:
If the show survives to season two, we’ll be in a good position. Things escalate wildly and there is a scene – if we achieve it, we will achieve gold status. Like the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones.
The Red Wedding is an event from the third season of Game of Thrones that is one of the most shocking sequences in the fantasy saga. The deaths of several main characters dramatically changed the power structure within the narrative and had far-reaching consequences for the rest of the series.

Season 2 could be heading into the future for the cast of 3 Body Problem
In the future, the dramatic situation of humanity has been transformed into hope. Because Earth now has a massive space fleet, which appears to be superior to the enemy’s spaceships. But then one of the most shocking scenes in the sci-fi saga occurs.
Even though the invader fleet is still almost 200 years away, an alien probe is already arriving on Earth. And that’s where the big shocking moment comes: The so-called drop destroys the entire space fleet in just a few minutes the human.
Within minutes, humanity’s hope of defeating the Trisolarians is dashed. Similar to the Red Wedding from Game of Thrones, this dramatic turning point changes the entire power dynamic and catapults the story in a new direction.
