2K Games about to lose the WWE 2K license EA

With the release of WWE 2K22 just a matter of day away, a rumor around 2K Games’ partnership with WWE is setting the internet ablaze. Indeed, according to the statements made by the site Fighting, specializing in wrestling, WWE officials are said to have started talks to find a new partner to take charge of developing WWE games, which have been in serious decline for many years. It is Electronic Arts which would obviously be the publisher best placed to take over the franchise, a player accustomed to sports games and which has many studios to possibly relaunch the license on the right track. Still according to Fightful, it was the critical and commercial failure of WWE 2K20 (released in October 2019) that prompted WWE to reconsider its contract with 2K Games. You should know that the WWE 2K20 episode was the first to be developed entirely by the Visual Concepts studio (NBA 2K), without the help of Yuke’s Co which was the studio of record at the time of THQ. Now that it’s been almost 10 years since the license has been under the 2K Games umbrella, it’s not impossible that WWE 2K22 will be the publisher’s last installment if the ratings and sales aren’t looking good. ..
