In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 you can see which words are completely okay in English and which are strictly forbidden. To outsiders, this seems strange. The experienced ex-professional and content creator Doug “Censor” Martin insulted an opponent for minutes, only ending with one word.
Who is the professional?
Censor complains about player accused of cheating
What has he done? In a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 live stream on October 16, Censor lost his temper. Live on Twitch, he made the most nasty comments about a player with whom he has a problem: The player Kodo was accused of cheating, and Censor had already had an argument with him.
Censor spoke angrily to Kodo: He told the player that he was bad at the game, that he “sucked cocks,” and was a pussy. He acts like he knows “this shit” but doesn’t know anything.
Censor then asked who he was following, if he was a “Brandon Dashy Dickrider.” Because that’s exactly how he sounds. Dashy is a CoD player for Optic.
Censor couldn’t control himself anymore: he didn’t respect the other person at all, he was a “bitch” and a “pussy” who should fuck off. He should unfollow him on social media, “you little fucking fa**ot.”
But at this point Censor himself reached a limit: when he heard the word that began with “fa,” he immediately interrupted himself, made an alarm noise and babbled conspicuously. He admitted he was an idiot.
Censor apologizes for the word – that’s not what he stands for
This is how it went on afterwards: After the stream, he apologized for using the “fa” word in a 2-minute video. That’s not something he stands for and he doesn’t actively use the word either.
He knows that the word is wrong and is disappointed in himself. He was already embarrassed at that moment.
Using the word is simply wrong, and he doesn’t want others to use it just because he does.
Whole language sounds homophobic – but the limit is reached when it comes to one word
This is so strange here from our point of view: The case shows how absurd the boundaries of political correctness are sometimes and that the boundaries are incomprehensible to outsiders.
Censor’s entire speech is permeated with words that sound somehow homophobic:
These are basically all words that are homophobic in some way. All of these words somehow play with the idea of how “a real man” should behave and that deviations from that are wrong.
All of these words are completely okay for Censor and apparently also his viewers. You can all use them like that. None of this is criticized.
But the word “Fa” is such a forbidden word that the limit is immediately reached and the streamer has to apologize for it for minutes. The word is only spoken of as the “Fa” word.
For non-native speakers who grew up in a different culture, it’s hard to understand why other words that sound much harsher to our ears are okay, but this one isn’t.
The Ukrainian s1mple had a very similar problem: He often used a Russian word that was completely okay for him, but was a worthy insult to the ears of Twitch:
Twitch bans one of the best CS:GO players in the world – he’s fed up
