It was in a home in Linköping that a woman was beaten by her husband on March 19, 2022. The woman was punched in the face and tied up. The 29-year-old put a plastic bag over her wife’s head while she had a plastic bag tucked in her mouth.
The woman was then kicked and scratched with a knife over the toes. The man forced the woman into a bathtub and poured detergent on her face.
The next day, the beating continued with kicks and blows to the arms and head.
With the help of a private person, the woman went to the hospital and then came in contact with the police. The man has been in custody since April 8.
The Linköping District Court has now convicted the man of aggravated assault, assault and unlawful threats. The court describes the act as “torture-like action”.
“The act has included several torture-like, privacy-infringing and degrading elements. The course of events has been quite protracted,” Linköping District Court writes in the judgment.
The 29-year-old is sentenced to two years and six months in prison and must pay SEK 72,600 in damages. The man denies the crime.
