May was a gloomy month in traffic, according to statistics from the Swedish Transport Agency.
Up to and including April, only 44 people had lost their lives in various forms of traffic accidents.
However, 29 people died in May alone. A further 1,292 people were injured, 172 of them seriously.
“We see a similar development to last year, when the number of traffic fatalities also skyrocketed in connection with the good weather during May and June,” says Staffan Berge, statistician at the Swedish Transport Agency, in a press release.
