The 28-year-old Iman “Pokimane” Anys was the only woman for the top 25 streamers on Twitch at the end of the 2010s. Today she scolds other streamers. Pokiman believes that some women on Twitch would insult them to gain viewers themselves. For them, this is already going towards Pick-Me-Girls.
That was the situation for Pokiman: Pokimane started as a streamer of League of Legends, but with the hype around Fortnite recognized her chance of doing the stream full -time. When the success came, she threw her studies and became a full -time streamer.
She was the only woman at the head of Twitch for many years and had an exposed position:
After the hostility got bigger, Pokiman took a few steps back, left Twitch and switched to YouTube. In the meantime, she is active on Twitch again, but not in the focus as before. Instead of 20,000 spectators, she still has about 10,000 today.
There are now also some other successful streamers on Twitch.

Women on Twitch insult as “bitch”
She says that now: In a podcast on March 17, 2025, Pokiman is annoyed by how other women deal with her on Twitch:
Every time I am involved in a controversy or a ‘drama’, I see other streamers who advertise for their streams by making me bad. Come and look at my stream, I’m not like this B-word Pokiman!
She says: Perhaps the streamers who cleaned them so cleaned were getting more spectators for a few evenings, but what kind of community do you build up?
Segment begins at 12:25 minutes:
As a woman, you only get a bunch of guys who are hostile to women as a woman. Pokimane says: This men would turn against the new streamer as soon as something troubled.
For Pokimans, women who treat them go in the direction of “Pick Me” girls.
Pokiman’s topic as early as 2019, since then their views have apparently only increased:
What is a pick-me girl? “Pick Me” girl describes women who behave in such a way that men should perceive them as uncomplicated and therefore more attractive. They want to be “not like other women” and often loudly reject things that other women typically like.
They are accused of pretending to be pronounced and downtaking their own needs. This is perceived as unsolidarically with other women.
For many years, streamers and their appearance on Twitch have been a big topic in the community. Some streamers repeatedly played consciously with the potential for outrage: Twitch streamer demands brazen subscriptions: “To be broke is not an excuse”
