If Batman appears in a movie, chances are good it will be one Worth seeing comic adaptation acts. From Tim Burton’s dark forays through Gotham City to Christpher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy to Robert Pattinson’s take on the Dark Knight, Batman is often a favorite among fans.

However, if we take a closer look at Batman’s story on the big screen, we also see a few more controversial appearances, most notably Batman & Robin with George Clooney. When the Joel Schumacher-directed film was released in 1997, it was laughed at by audiences and ended the Batman run at the time.

26 years after Batman & Robin, George Clooney returned to the DC Universe as Batman

Although Batman & Robin has long had cult status in certain circles, it is still considered in the mainstream one of the worst superhero movies at all. Clooney’s Bruce Wayne made an unexpected comeback this year when he appeared in the final seconds of The Flash and caused chaos.

The multiverse adventure brings back many familiar DC characters. Just when the title character believes he has arrived back in his own world, it turns out that a… stranger Batman roams the streets of Gotham – namely the one we last saw 26 years ago in the derided Batman & Robin.

Clooney’s cameo caused great excitement among many DC fans. Although Batman & Robin doesn’t have a good reputation, there is now a certain nostalgia for Schumachers idiosyncratic and over-the-top DC vision. So after all these years it’s definitely worth taking a look at Batman & Robin again.

Batman & Robin airs tonight, September 16, 2023, at 8:15 p.m. on Tele 5. The broadcast lasts until 10:50 p.m. with commercial breaks. The repeat will follow on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 5:35 p.m. Alternatively, you can currently watch the film with a streaming subscription on Amazon Prime.
