25-year-old was considered the best German in Lol for years, then Fnatic threw him out, now he’s back

The 25-year-old Elias “Upset” Lipp was a linchpin at Fnatic for two years, the popular E-Sport team on LOL in Europe. During this time, the ADC was considered the best German player in League of Legends, but the squad died according to the LOL Worlds 2021 and the German upper was replaced by the Swedish star player Rekkles. Two cruel years followed for upset and for the Fnatic team. But that has come to an end now.

This is how Upset’s career ran: Already at 15 Upset was a successful player in LOL and switched to Schalke. In retrospect, he would have preferred to save himself and would have switched to the permanent master G2, as he says in an interview with Tolkin today (via YouTube), but at that time he didn’t know better.

After stations at Origen and Astralis, he landed in November 2020 as a “great German talent” at Fnatic. They had just lost their star player Rekkles on G2 and needed replacement. At Fnatic, Upset finally turned into an elite games and made Fnatic “his team”.

In 2021 and 2022 he dominated the individual rankings because he collected so many kills, but hardly died himself. During that time he was considered the best German player in LOL.

Many consider a German to be the best soloq player in LOL-how does Agurin play?

After Upset had to leave the Worlds, the worm was in there

That was the sticking point: But in 2021 it crashed into the team: For private reasons, Upset had to leave the Worlds in Iceland. To date, it is not known what exactly happened, one only speaks of “family reasons.”

At that time it was a huge disappointment for Fnatic because the players had worked all year round to earn a place at the Worlds. But she couldn’t use this place. Without her focus player, Fnatic resigned without a chance.

After these Worlds there was an ongoing unrest at Fnatic. A young player accused Upset that he only ran away from the Worlds because his partner was longing for him. Upset kept against such allegations. But there was the rumor in the world: the woman from Upset even got threats to murder.

The mood in the team went down the stream at the time, as Upset says today.

For Fnatic and Upset, 2 really bad years start

So it went for Fnatic without upset: Ultimately, Fnatic blew up the squad in 2022 and replaced Upset with the “big name”, Rekkles, who came back to the team after it was not going well for him at G2.

But Rekkles was no longer the franchise player of yore. He later even trained to support. At Fnatic he could never really gain a foothold.

This was followed by 2 years in which Fnatic constantly rotated the squad but had no real success.

After UPSet, 8 more games went away from Fnatic in 2 years, especially the supporter changed constantly. After the rapid departure of Rekkles, the Koreaner Noah played on the Botlane.

So it went for UPSET: For Upset, too, it was bad without Fnatic in 2023 and 2024. First he switched to Perkz in his “super team” vitality. But that remained super successful. After the season, Perkz spoke of the fact that it didn’t feel real at all, but rather like a nightmare.

Then Upset switched to Karmine Corp. – Nothing came together there either. The Spring Split 2024 ended Upset 10th place.

At Karmine Corp. In 2025 there was no space for the German anyway: the Wunderkind Caliste now plays there as an ADC.

In a fairly stupid video, Fnatic shows how Jungler Razork gets the two former Fnatic players Mikyx and Upset back to Fnatic by journey:

Upet is ready to take responsibility and spread a good mood at 25

So it works up now: Upset returned to Fnatic in 2025 and is a strong Botlane with Mikyx, the most renowned supporter in Europe.

In an interview with Tolkin, Upset says that he was like “the lost son” who returns to Fnatic. The last time you had many problems and tensions in the team. But now he has planned to be reasonable at 25, only exudy positive vibes and make the announcements.

In the past, at 15, he was terribly toxic, he says today. Tolkin adds: Upset constantly put pressure on and pushed people to play a lot of soloq. Only if all of the Challenger were, Upset was satisfied.

The 25-year-old smiles: Even today it is still important to him that everyone plays a lot. But Upset has probably found ways to communicate his goals without being as toxic as before. Especially with Mikyx as a partner he praises again and again, he now seems to feel comfortable.

For Mikyx it has not been so plump in recent years, but in 2025 it looks strong.

Upset is again a statistics monster

This is how it works for UPSet at Fnatic: Apparently he ended up Upet in the two weeks he is now playing at Fnatic, his own weakness and that of Fnatic on one train: the newly formed Fnatic recently cleaned G2 away-Upset played 4-1-9 on Ezrael.

With 5-1, Fnatic, Karmine Corp. And Movistar Koi is currently number 1 in the LEC.

At the KDA Upset currently, after 6 games with 11.2, the LEC was number 2, only the new Wunderkind Calisté is even better at 14.2. Calisté and Upetet actually seem to meet the high expectations that have been put into both season: An 18-year-old is so strong in LOL that the European champion is supposed to offer half the team and a lot of money for him
