25-year-old LoL pro freaks out on Twitch so much that he goes to a mental health specialist – “I have a diagnosis”

The 25-year-old Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau is a professional in League of Legends and is about to take part in the Worlds. But he is obviously not in a good mental state. After an appearance on Twitch, well-known experts are worried about him. Bwipo pulled the emergency brake and went to a specialist.

This was the stream from Bwipo: Belgian top laner Bwipo has become champion in the USA in 2024 after a long dry spell. He is about to take part in the LoL Worlds and is currently streaming some matches in preparation.

But in one stream he seemed to completely lose control. In front of the camera he ranted about European professional players who can’t do anything but have huge egos. They steal “paychecks”.

This was heavily criticized in the scene. Some believed that Bwipo seemed to be beside himself and that he might have taken too much of the attention-seeking drug Adderall to combat his ADHD.

Life as a LoL pro is stressful for mental health, especially after defeats:

Bwipo consults mental health specialists

This is what Bwipo says now: After the many criticisms about his behavior and his stream, Bwipo has spoken out again. He said that LoL expert LS contacted him and asked about his well-being.

Nick “LS” De Cesare (31) is a respected coach and analyst among professional LoL players and is considered a thought leader in the game.

Bwipo then contacted his mental health expert and during the conversation, the expert diagnosed him with an illness or syndrome.

Bwipo does not explain what exactly was found, only says that there is something wrong with him, something is going on inside him and that he has been diagnosed.

He says he is much calmer now and will explain in the next few days what exactly was going on with him.

He has always been controversial – and he is OK with receiving negative feedback for it. Bwipo says he will work on his gameplay. He would be ashamed if he played badly in a professional match.

Professionals in LoL fluctuate between perfection and doubt

This is what’s behind it: It actually sounds like what Bwipo is going through could be related to Adderall or an imbalance.

LoL pros are under enormous, constant stress and often have ego problems because they have to think they are great players in order to play LoL and function properly. They must not hesitate or doubt, but must also learn to deal with the inevitable defeats.

At 25, Bwipo has had a long dry spell and has now won a title again after a long time. Apparently, that didn’t do him any good: LoL: 25-year-old becomes champion in the USA, rants against European players while on a high
