On August 13, a 40-year-old man was hit by a 25-year-old on Skallberget in Västerås. The 40-year-old suffered, among other things, injuries to his ribs, a broken neck vertebra and broken bones in several places on his body. Now both the 25-year-old and the 40-year-old are being sentenced for crimes in connection with the incident.
According to the verdict in the Västmanland district court, the two men, who were acquaintances, started arguing for an unknown reason. The 40-year-old threatened the 25-year-old with death via a live broadcast on Facebook.
In the police investigation, it appears that the live broadcast continued close to the attempted murder. The process has also been filmed by several witnesses.
Both men are sentenced after the collision
The 25-year-old states that he was alarmed by the live broadcast, and got behind the wheel of his car to escape. But instead he was met by the 40-year-old, who was standing in the street and hitting other cars. He then accelerated with his car and hit the 40-year-old, who flew ten meters and was seriously injured.
The 25-year-old believes that he did not intend to kill and invokes emergency protection. The district court sentences him to eight years in prison and damages.
The 40-year-old who was hit is sentenced to prison for one month for illegal threats.
