If the government does not come up with more money, cuts will not end after 2026. A deficit of another 10 million euros is expected in 2027. That will increase to 18 million in 2028. If more cuts are made, other choices will have to be made. “That 4 percent is possible now, but is not feasible in the long term,” says Stegeman. He hopes that it will not come to that and that the new cabinet will reverse the proposed cuts.
