Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

24 abandoned cats have been found outdoors Kalix. Two of them are dead and many are being treated for serious injuries. The cat emergency in Norrbotten states that the cats have been left in the cold to die. – Several cats had their paws frozen in ice and snow, one cat had frozen in a branch, says Camilla Zerpe Karlsson at Kattakuten in Norrbotten. Late last Saturday evening, Kattakuten received the first alarm. Someone had found three cats by a snowmobile trail on the outskirts of Kalix, far from built-up areas. The cats were found to be in very poor condition. After that, the calls have continued to pour in about new discoveries. Cats have been found by the scooter track but also near a school in Kalix. A total of 24 cats have been found so far, two of them were dead. – We have picked up cats high up in trees. Cats have frozen their paws in ice. A cat had frozen its leg in a branch. Some cats are in very bad condition, others are lively, says Camilla Zerpe Karlsson. Relates to domestic cats Where the cats come from and how they got there Kattakuten does not know. – We don’t want to speculate about it. Our task now is the urgent, to help the cats. Several of the cats are now being treated at an animal hospital for their injuries. Most seem to survive, but the situation is uncertain. Many were thin and “enormously hungry”, according to Kattakuten. – These are domesticated cats, they were not born outdoors. One of them was so happy when we found her, she ran and ran, says Camilla Zerpe Karlsson. “Upset and shocked” Since Kattakuten posted information about the incident on social media, many people have reached out to help with food and offer supportive housing. The cattery is used to receiving cats but has never experienced anything like this. – We are terribly upset and shocked that someone can expose animals to something like this, says Camilla Zerpe Karlsson.
