As a “cyber transport system specialist” within the US Air Force, Jack Teixeira had access to classified material. He was arrested at his home on April 13 on suspicion of leaking more than 300 documents in what has been called “one of the most damaging intelligence leaks of this century” and has been in custody ever since.
“Challenged our nation’s security”
Jack Teixeira is charged with six counts of obtaining and disseminating classified defense information.
“The unauthorized removal, retention, and transmission of classified information challenged our nation’s security,” Massachusetts Attorney General Joshua S. Levy wrote in the indictment.
The 21-year-old’s lawyer has not yet commented on the prosecution.
