2024 will be a tough year for households

In the speech from Harpsund pointed Kristersson among other things, on gang crime, the increased threat of terrorism, climate change, the school “knowledge race” in reading and mathematics, and interest rates and food prices that create stress.

He assured, however, that the government is on its way to turning the tide.

— It will take time. It will be difficult. But it will work, said Kristersson.

— During 2024, the paradigm shift will be implemented – area by area.

Kristersson enumerated a number of changes against crime that will come into force next year: residence bans, visitation zones and tougher penalties for weapons offences. He also pointed out that steps are being taken to build new nuclear power, to change the migration policy and that inflation is being fought.

— Now we see clear signs that the fight against inflation is successful, Kristersson said.

“2024 will be a tough year”

— 2024 will be a tough year for households. But the development is going in the right direction and at the turn of the year we will also lower the tax for all wage earners and pensioners.

Kristersson added that when inflation has really gone down, it is time to bet on growth to pick up.

To describe where the government is in its change work, he alluded to a formulation from Winston ChurchillBritish Prime Minister during World War II.

— My message is not at all that we are at the beginning of the end to get Sweden in order. But I am convinced that we are at the end of the beginning.
