The Paralympic Games, which begin this Wednesday, August 28, will be an opportunity to bring out your famous QR code.
From August 28 to September 8, if you are not yet aware, the Paralympic Games will be taking place in France and especially in the capital. Once again, in order to be able to move around, a QR code will be required by the police in certain areas. But after the unknown during the Olympics, the machine should be a little better regulated, especially since the rules are less strict.
First good news, all the people who already have a QR code, made for the Olympic Games, you can use the same one, no additional steps will be required (except in case of moving because your current address is required). Some exceptions all the same since the circulation will be impossible for a few hours, despite the Pass for the opening ceremony in the zone concerned. The same during the paracycling road events from September 3 to 7 in Seine-Saint-Denis and Seine-et-Marne, where it will not be possible to circulate on the roads where the competition takes place.
As you may have noticed, the Olympic route has been reopened since August 22 to allow free movement of athletes and various delegations. Second piece of good news, if there are no more events on an Olympic site from 4 or 5 p.m., the perimeter can be lifted in the hours that follow and make the surroundings of the site more easily accessible to vehicles. More information on anticipatethegames.gouv.fr.
No restrictions on foot
Another piece of good news is that traffic in the areas where vehicles are prohibited will remain free for pedestrians. There will be a simple visual check of luggage. Be careful though, the area between the avenues de Marigny and Winston Churchill in the west of Paris, and the Place de la Concorde in the east, will be completely closed from 2pm to 5pm for the opening ceremony this Wednesday.
How to get your Pass?
If you haven’t done it because you were maybe on vacation, don’t panic, there is obviously still time to do it. You have to go to the site Pass-Jeux.gouv.frthe official platform. To apply, the process is simple:
- Select the reason for your request, a large number of scenarios are provided
- Fill out the form with your personal information. You will then have to choose between a “driver” form or a “vehicle” form (it all depends on whether it is for personal or business use)
- If you have opted for the “driver” form: then send your digital proof of identity and an identity photo. Only identity cards, passports, driving licenses or residence permits are accepted. If, on the other hand, you have opted for the “vehicle” form, you must enter the registration number of the vehicle and provide a copy of the registration document.
- Enter the address of the location for which you need the Games Pass and the site near which it is located, providing proof of the need to need a vehicle in the red zone. In some cases, you will also be asked for proof of parking to certify that you have a place to park your vehicle.
- If you are a resident, proof of address may be requested; if you do not reside in Paris, your hotel or accommodation reservation will do. For workers, request a certificate from your employer in advance. Finally, for a one-off visit such as a medical appointment, reservation certificates or sworn statements are required.
