Over the whole year, the temperature reached an average of 14.5°C in France. Météo-France qualifies this record as symptom of climate change “.
The year 2022 is indeed the hottest ever recorded in mainland France, with 14.5 degrees of average annual temperature, confirmed on Friday Meteo France.
“ 2022 ranks number one “Since the beginning of the surveys in 1900, “ very far ahead of 2020 which held the record so far “, with 14.07 ° C, specifies Météo France.
The whole country is concerned: 2022 is the hottest year since 1947 in all administrative regions except in Île-de-France where 2022 ranks second.
Record rainfall deficit
Very hot, 2022 will also have been exceptional ” in terms of drought, announced Friday Météo-France, which recorded a ” record rainfall deficit » by some 25% since the beginning of the surveys in 1959. Here too, all the departments are concerned.
This deficit, the precise figure of which must be published later, is almost tied with that measured in 1989, specifies the meteorological institute which must confirm “ at the end of the month which of the two years is the driest.
On a European scale, the French record of 2022 is no exception. Many other countries had their warmest year, says Météo-France. On the whole globe, despite the cooling caused by a planetary context “La Niña” extending over three consecutive years, the year 2022 will however be the fifth or sixth hottest year recorded in the world.
