Coming with one of the most ambitious engines in the segment of recent times, the 2022 Mercedes-AMG C43 seems to be no match for the V6.
Mercedes, which recently attracted attention by introducing the four-cylinder engine for the first time in SL history, continues to reflect these dynamics to its other important names as required by the new era standards. This time, the C43 is at the center of the developments we encounter over an AMG model. Saying goodbye to the six-cylinder engine offered in the previous generation, the 2022 Mercedes-AMG C43 draws attention with its hybrid system, not making any concessions in terms of power, despite the loss of cylinders. The car, which draws attention with its performance, will be available in sedan and SW body types.

Carrying traces of hybrid technology from Formula 1 under its hood, Mercedes-AMG C43’s 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine is accompanied by a 48V mild-hybrid system. Together with the system that produces 14 PS of power on its own, users are offered a maximum power of 408 PS and torque values up to 500 Nm. The power generation of the engine, which makes a difference with its electrically assisted turbo system, is also exciting, which we can evaluate as 200 horsepower per liter. Combined with AMG’s 9-speed MCT transmission and all-wheel drive system, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 4.6 seconds. Leaving the character of the six-cylinder engine behind as its working principle, AMG does not neglect to make the users feel the experience, at least in terms of sound.

With the “AMG Real Performance Sound” option offered, digital sound transmission can be made within the vehicle. Since it is an AMG car, there are of course non-artificial points. The model, which comes with an adaptive suspension system as standard, will not need to pay extra for rear-wheel maneuverability. While the double wishbone system is located in the front part of the reinforced suspensions, the multi-point independent architecture is used at the rear. Brake systems are also different in terms of the vehicle’s capabilities. Steel discs of 370 millimeters at the front and 320 millimeters at the rear come as standard. In addition, the fact that the lap times of the track driving can be recorded in the multimedia system inside the vehicle is also among the differences of the AMG badge. Prices are yet to be announced and the first deliveries of the C43 family will take place towards the end of the year.
