WHAT WAS MOST TALKED ON TWITTER IN 2021?
Social media platform Twitter has released Turkey’s 2021 summary on Twitter. Accordingly, Twitter shared the most spoken names, hashtags and tweets of 2021 in Turkey.
PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN RANKED FIRST
According to the statement, the most talked-about name on Twitter in Turkey was President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. President Erdogan was also listed as the most mentioned name in tweets.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, one of the prominent names on Twitter, Minister of Health Dr. Fahrettin Koca followed suit. Minister Koca’s tweets also met with intense interest in 2021.
Again, one of the prominent names during the pandemic period, former Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu were among the most talked about names.
THE WORLD OF FOOTBALL MADE ITS MARK
If we say that the football world left its mark on Twitter in 2021, we would not be using a wrong expression. Because Fenerbahce’s Mesut Özil and Galatasaray Technical Director Fatih Terim were among the top 20 most talked about names on Twitter, and Fenerbahçe (@fenerbahce) was among the top 5 accounts that received the most interaction on Twitter.
In addition, the football world stood out among the most retweeted tweets. So much so that 14 tweets in the top 20 list were related to football and the big three.
While Fenerbahçe’s Mesut Özil tweet ranked first among the most retweeted tweets in Turkey in 2021, last season’s champion Beşiktaş’s championship tweet with video content ranked second. It was announced that the tweet with the most likes belonged to Mesut Özil.

KOREAN POPU (K-POP) RANKS TOP
Korean pop (K-Pop), which has seen a remarkable rise in Turkey recently, has also become one of the most talked about topics by Twitter users in Turkey in 2021. Because, it is possible to see Korean pop groups and singers among the most talked and interacted names. Chief among them are BTS (5th) and EXO (top 20).
Finally, let’s mention that the hashtag #Survivor2021 is among the most talked about hashtags in 2021.
