2000 French soldiers sent to Ukraine according to Moscow Paris

While the head of Russian foreign intelligence said on Tuesday that France was preparing to send 2,000 soldiers to Ukraine, Paris firmly denied this information.

Tension is rising another notch between Paris and Moscow. “The current leaders [de la France ndlr.] “do not care about the deaths of ordinary French people or the concerns of generals”, said the head of Russian foreign intelligence, Sergei Naryshkin, on Tuesday March 19, including a dispatch from the Russian agency Tass relays the words. “According to information reaching the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, a contingent to be sent to Ukraine is already being prepared. Initially, it will include around 2,000 soldiers,” he announced. And the head of the SVR immediately clarified that this unit would, of course, be considered by the Russian army as a “legitimate and priority” target.

Announcements which come while, for several weeks, Emmanuel Macron has broken the taboo of sending European troops to Ukraine, in the process attracting the wrath of his European counterparts and a good part of the French political class. The French Ministry of the Armed Forces, however, quickly reacted to this information, firmly denying any imminent sending of French soldiers to the Ukrainian front. Paris even denounced on X “a systematic use of mass disinformation widely used by Russia”, and called for “the greatest vigilance” in the face of this type of information.
