2,000 die annually from prostate cancer – now the regions are being criticized

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Every year over 2,000 men in Sweden die from prostate cancer. Despite this, only 5 out of 21 regions in Sweden have some form of organized prostate cancer testing.

Something that the Cancer Foundation is critical of.

In 2018, the previous government commissioned Sweden’s municipalities and regions to investigate how they could introduce organized prostate cancer testing.

Today, just over 4 years later, only 5 out of 21 regions have started.

– Taking into account that it has been 2.5 years of pandemic, I think it is fantastic that 5 regions have started, says Ola Bratt, chairman of the national working group for organized prostate cancer testing.
