Finnish studio to which we owe games such as Max Payne 1 and 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Break and more recently Control, Remedy Entertainment has decided to modernize its logo. No more “R” surrounded by a circle to refer to Max Payne’s ball, this time the letter is split over a small part, as if to recall a bug or a glitch, which is more in osmosis with the studio’s latest productions. Between Quantum Break and Control, visual effects of this type were quite numerous. The studio does not confirm this “bugged” effect and rather speaks of an evolution in the logo, while recalling that it has been 20 years since the latter had been modified.
A few years ago, as our studio transitioned from making a single game at a time, to making multiple games simultaneously, and expanding beyond the borders of Finland, to a second location in Stockholm, in Sweden, we embarked on a mission to refine our visual identity. We haven’t updated our logo in over 20 years. That is, until now.
Creating a new logo and refreshed visual identity for Remedy has been an emotional journey, like anything in art. Long-time Remedy fans, you surely know how vital art direction is to us. Not just in our games, but in terms of our studio identity. Not to mention our hoodies!
As a game development studio, we’ve come a long way since 1995, when we started. The remedy is constantly evolving.
The bullet in the letter R of the old logo represented the era of Max Payne, but today’s remedy is much bigger than a single game; we have a whole portfolio of games, new and old.
It was time to update and redefine our visual identity to bring more consistency, highlight our evolution over the years, and better express our vision of the Remedy of today.
The Remedy logo means a lot to us, but we know it means a lot to you too. Like the games we make at Remedy, we approached this process with great care, consideration, and a lot of passion!
We want to create memorable worlds, stories and characters that you can experience through our games. We wanted our new logo to reflect how we are constantly evolving and continuing to create exciting games with the best people. However, all this remains a Remedy where courageous creativity thrives. We hope you like the new look.
Our future is incredibly exciting. Despite nearly three decades in the gaming industry, in many ways it looks like we’re just getting started. You can expect Alan Wake 2 later this year and several great Remedy experiences to play in the years to come.
