When Deadpool & Wolverine brings Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and Logan (Hugh Jackman) together on the big screen for the first time this summer, Marvel fans can look forward to a spectacular trip through the multiverse that celebrates decades of Marvel film history.

The latest trailer for the 3rd Deadpool film is full of Easter eggs (like an Iron Man reference) and hidden cameos from well-known comic book villains. If you look closely in the trailer, you can even spot a villain who was seen in a Marvel actioner 20 years ago.

Deadpool & Wolverine hides a The Punisher villain in the trailer

The trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine announces a scene that brings together several Marvel villains. We see the first glimpses of the setting of a desert wasteland in which Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) emerges from a huge and hollowed-out Ant-Man skull. She is greeted by numerous villains from different Marvel films.

In addition to Lady Deathstrike (X-Men 2), Callisto (X-Men 3) and Azazel (X-Men: First Class) there is also one Man in red and white striped undershirt to recognize. Who is this about? As Comic Book Movie notes, among other things, we could be here The Russian honor with a cameo. The Marvel villain was last seen in live-action form 20 years ago in the action hit The Punisher.

A memorable scene from the film: the fight between the Punisher and the Russian. In this action sequence, Frank Castle is thrown like a wrecking ball through an apartment – and through walls and doors – by his superior opponent. You can watch The Punisher scene on YouTube here:

There could now be a reunion with the Russian in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, this is no longer embodied by professional wrestler Kevin Nash, but by stuntman Billy Clements. So it’s not the exact version of the villain from The Punisher, but rather a variant from the multiverse.
