A year after Marua Ajouz disappeared, her head was found in the Bokskogen outside Malmö. But it took until 2017 before the rest of the body was found in connection with excavation work in Nordanå.
Early in the investigation, suspicions were directed at the then-boyfriend, but the interrogation led nowhere. He was charged in 2004 after Marua’s head was found, but the evidence was not enough to charge him.
Arrested last year
When the rest of the body was found in April 2017, the murder investigation gained new momentum and the ex-boyfriend was arrested in December 2022 in Uddevalla. Since 2017, both new evidence and new witness information have been added.
Now the trial starts in Malmö District Court where, in addition to the accused ex-boyfriend, Marua Ajouz’s relatives and about 40 witnesses will be heard.
