In Sweden, which sought Turkey’s approval to join NATO, provocative demonstrations targeting President Erdogan and Turkey, one after another, took place in recent weeks. Rasmus Paludan made the last of these ugly performances. Paludan, who carried out a similar action last spring, expressed that he received many death threats after the last incident and whether he regretted it.

Paludan, the leader of the far-right Stram Kurs party, known for its anti-Islamism, has been walking around with police protection since 2019. Speaking to the Expressen newspaper, Paludan said that one out of every 20 messages from social media were “very concrete” threats and he was afraid.
“When I scored against Turkey, I said, ‘This is it,'” Paludan told the newspaper. But it didn’t turn out the way I thought it would.” used the phrases.

Paludan gave the following answer to the newspaper’s question ‘Do you regret it’:
“I’m not. The reason I did it was because I thought there were important political reasons. What I’m upset about is that so many people are threatening me with death.”

While evaluating the threats against him, Paludan said that the situation is getting more and more serious and said, “This situation is obviously getting more and more serious. I get very concrete threats. Maybe 20 messages per minute are coming on social media, 5 of them are threat messages.” he said.

Paludan, who argued that the values of the Western world were criticized rather than himself, answered the question ‘Are you afraid’ as follows:
“Yes. I get scared when someone openly writes that they’re going to kill me, when they describe what they’re going to do.”
