One of the biggest cult series from the sci-fi and mystery genre is set to return in a new form. That’s what the X-Files creator Chris Carter said personally, according to Deadline, in a recent podcast conversation. Ryan Coogler, best known for directing Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in the Marvel Universe, is set to develop a diverse cast reboot of The X-Files.

Reason for an X-Files remake: encouragement from creator Chris Carter
The first good news about the planned new X-Files series is the sender of the news. Original series creator Chris Carter shared the info with the public. This shows that the showrunner himself is behind the concept of a new edition and will not give the valuable name of his cult brand into someone else’s hands against his will.

Reason against a new edition of the X-Files: The brand is a big burden
The biggest risk in a new X-Files series is in the title. The name alone arouses certain expectations, as fans connect a lot of feelings with the original, which became a series classic.
It would probably have been better to have one completely new series with its own title to develop, which is strongly based on the successful concept of Chris Carter’s original. A successful series such as Fringe – borderline cases of the FBI has shown that this strategy can work. For many X-Files fans, the production filled a mystery and sci-fi gap in the market.
