Wherever the great duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost appear, things can only get funny. Today you can experience the two in a double act, directed by Edgar Wright. First they take on an action-packed investigation in a small town as police officers in Hot Fuzz, then they go on a zombie hunt in Shaun of the Dead – of course more bad than good.
Hot Fuzz – Two wanked professionals on TV
You can also do your job too well. Nicholas Angel (Pegg) has to go through this experience, next to whom his colleagues can only look bad. He is quickly transferred to the village of Sandford, which has no crime whatsoever. The collaboration with his new and somewhat strenuous partner Danny Butterman (Frost) gets off to a rocky start, but the two soon grow together and face a real case. Because that Many of the fatal accidents in Sandford simply cannot be justified.
Hot Fuzz successfully takes aim at the action genre and has a large number of stars. If you look closely, you will even see two Hollywood greats in two cameo appearances. So we see The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson as the stabbing Santa Claus. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is even better hidden as a forensic scientist at the crime scene. Only hardcore fans will probably recognize her behind the face mask and full body suit.
Shaun of the Dead: Hilarious Zombie Apocalypse
Liz (Kate Ashfield) expects more from life than her boyfriend Shaun (Pegg). He’s so caught up in his daily routine, that he doesn’t even notice the zombie apocalypse. It’s only when his beloved pub is overrun by the infected that he realizes the seriousness of the situation and has to do everything he can to save his mother and get his girlfriend back.
Shaun on the Dead is primarily a parody of George A. Romero’s horror films and makes a variety of references. The director was also able to laugh at the comedy; he was even so excited that Pegg and Frost got cameo appearances as zombies in his film Land of the Dead.
The dynamic between Pegg and Frost is absolutely great and will keep you watching Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead over and over again. Both are so successful that it’s hard to say which film is more fun. Our community can’t decide either rated both films 7.4 out of 10. Fans of Simon Pegg can next see him in the action spectacle Mission: Impossible 8, which could finally solve the biggest mystery in the action series.
