2 new MMORPGs will be released in April

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Two new MMORPGs, Aion Classic and Mad World, will be released in April. In addition, a completely new game was announced with Anvil Empires and there was some news about WoW, RuneScape and New World. We have summarized everything for you.

The highlights of the week:

  • Aion Classic launches in Europe on April 12th. Status is about patch 1.9, but with balance adjustments. Also, Aion Classic will continue to evolve in a new direction in the future, similar to Old School RuneScape. A completely new class and dungeon have already been announced.
  • Mad World will be released on April 27th – or April 22nd with the corresponding backer package. This is a dark 2.5D game in iso perspective. The focus is on complex skill trees, story and wars between the tribes. It appears for both Steam and the browser. More about the game here: 6 new MMORPGs that should definitely appear in 2023.
  • Soulframe, the new MMORPG from the creators of Warframe, has shown its first gameplay. In just under 3 minutes there are different fights with a melee class to see.
  • The excitement of the week: In Old School RuneScape, players will be able to choose between three new skills, one of which will be implemented. It’s the first new skill in 10 years. The players are debating it accordingly.

The discussion of the week: Why have hardly any good, new MMORPGs come out in the last 9 years? Schuhmann asked himself this question and invited you to discuss it. You can do that here in the comments, but also in the article itself.

A lot to complain about in WoW, new expansion for Black Desert and a shift in New World

This is what happened in the big MMORPGs:

  • WoW is probably working on a kind of Cataclysm 2.0. Cortyn has collected all the information about it. Our WoW demon also complains about wrong developer decisions. In addition, the new affixes were announced, which should appear soon for Mythic +.
  • There is currently a build in ESO that will get you through anything, no matter how bad you play. In addition, the DLC Scribes of Fate was also released for the console version of ESO this week.
  • Guild Wars 2 launched the Super Adventure Box on Tuesday. This is an 8-bit game within the game. She will stay until April 18th.
  • Black Desert has released the new expansion “Land of the Morning Light” in Korea. This will come to us soon. We have presented them here. You can also see the trailer here:

This is what happened with the small MMORPGs:

  • In Old School RuneScape, a player set an insane “speedrun record” but it spanned 711 game hours.
  • In New World, the first season was supposed to start on March 28th, along with a new story and a new dungeon. However, due to a bug, the release has been postponed indefinitely. However, the reset of the leaderboards will only take place on April 2nd, which many take as an indication that the patch will also appear there (via New World Forum).
  • In Ultima Online there are players who have been paying for a subscription for years, only log in for a very short time, but actually don’t play actively at all. The reason for this is the housing.
  • SWTOR has released the new patch 7.2.1 which, among other things, brought the 64-bit client (via SWTOR).
  • Developer veteran describes how disgusting players in MMORPGs can be: “That’s why we introduced a police force”

This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:

  • Blue Protocol has released new class gameplay. In addition, the network test in Japan has been running since March 31st.
  • Anvil Empires will be a new MMORPG with a focus on PvP. What is special here, however, is that it becomes very complex. You have to build your own city, manage it and provide supplies in wars. Behind the game are the makers of the shooter Foxhole, which relied on a similar principle.
  • The makers of Lost Ark have presented Wonderers: Eternal World, a new MMORPG reminiscent of MapleStory and hosting a first beta in April – but only in Korea for now.
  • Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen talked about crafting, gathering, and the upcoming test in April in a dev video (via MassivelyOP).
  • This is the MMORPG news of the week at a glance. What was your personal highlight? Did you experience anything else interesting this week that you would like to share? Or have we perhaps forgotten something important? Write it to us in the comments here at MeinMMO.
