The adaptation of the PlayStation hit of the same name thrilled an audience of millions and was even named the best series of 2023 by us. Netflix and Amazon now want to build on this.
The two streaming giants will soon be filming two more popular PlayStation games that promise massive blockbuster entertainment: While Netflix is producing the sci-fi adventure Horizon Zero Dawn, Amazon is producing the brutal fantasy epic God of War. Now there is news about the development status of both projects.

As part of the CES 2024 tech trade fair this week, Sony gave a few small updates on various video game film adaptations. It also became known what the status of the God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn series is. Scripts are currently being written diligently for both projectswhich soon begins the race to see which live-action series will come out first.
Both the Netflix series Horizon and the Amazon series God of War are produced by PlayStation Productions, among others. The Sony production company has already been involved in the video game adaptations Uncharted, Gran Turismo as well as the series The Last of Us and Twisted Metal.

When do God of War and Horizon start on Amazon and Netflix?
Since both video game adaptations are only in the script stage, fans should be patient for now. There is currently no cast or specific dates for filming for either project. So we shouldn’t expect both series before 2026.
