Numerous trailers were released and new projects announced at Comic-Con in San Diego. Star Trek was no slouch either. The thriving sci-fi universe had its own panel on Saturday, and alongside the teaser for Picard’s Season 3, there was also News about the new series Strange New Worlds and the animation fun Lower Decks.
Crossover number 1: Lower Decks trailer promises meetings with old friends
At the panel, the Trailer for the upcoming 3rd season from Star Trek: Lower Decks and is worth sticking with until the end. Namely, there is a reunion with the space station Deep Space Nine (and the title sequence of the series).

Lower Decks won’t stop at this gag. Series creator Mike McMahan explained at Comic-Con (via Digital Spy):
and then we go to Deep Space Ninewhere we’ll walk the Promenade Deck, we’ll admire the Cardassian architecture… and you might see some familiar faces there.
“For me it feels like one last walk through Deep Space Nine”, McMahan revealed. which Characters from DS9 will appear has not been announced.
Lower Decks Season 3 premieres August 25th on Paramount+ in the US. We are currently expecting a timely release on Amazon Prime Video in Germany, but a date has not yet been set.
Crossover number 2: Lower Decks meets Star Trek Strange New Worlds
At the second crossover Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds meet. That’s right, the animated series and the live-action series will share an episode. Here’s what was announced by Paramount+ (via TrekMovie):
Jonathan Frakes, TNG star and veteran Star Trek director, will direct the episode.
A Start date for SNW Season 2 does not exist yet, but it will probably come in 2023. In Germany, the first season of the science fiction series will be released in winter when the Paramount+ streaming service comes to Germany. Season 2 will then also be shown there.
