Rising Numbers of Children Enrolling in Scouting in Brant County has been result in the organization putting out a call for volunteers.

1st Paris Scouting Currently has 92 individuals in its beaver scouts (ages 5 to 7), cub scouts (ages 8 to 10), scouts (age 11 to 14), venture scouts (11 to 17), and rover scouts (Ages 18 to 26) Programs, Drawing Members from Branty and Brantford, as well as Paris and Norwich Areas.
“Coming out of Covid we started to explode,” Said Dan Tapley, Group Commissioner. “We were from Having 15 Kids in Beavers and 15 in Cubs, to Closer to 30 to 40. That necessaryitated Finding A Second Rental and A Second Night For Each of Those.”
He Said 1st Paris Scouting is not the only group Experiencing Growth in Their Ranks.
“The Youth Weren’t Necessarily Getting the Social Skills They Could have During the pandemic, and they found that scouting was a way to get Those Social Skills,” Tapley Explained. “We also teach a lot of life skills as well. Parents are sometimes surprise that their youth will come home from a camp having cooked breakfast or having done dishes.”

The group Commissioner Note there are Currently 27 Volunteers Involved with 1st Paris Scouting, But Many are “Wearing Two or Three Hats” and Working Two Nights Each Week with a group, as well as having administrative roles at the regional, provincial or national level.
“We want to run a program that youth are interested in,” he explained. “They lead us in Whore they want to go with it, and we work the program around that to fit in some of our traditional scouting skills.
A FIRST AID NIGHT WAS HELD AT A RECENT CUB SCOUT MEETING WHERE LEARNED TO BUILD A FIRST AID KIT AND FASHION A Startcher with Broomsticks and A Tarp.
As a computer technician by day with some outdoor skills, tapley said he has learned a lot by joining as a volunteer and learning from other people.
“If we can get More Volunteers, it will offload some of the stress on our currente,” he said. “Everyone has something to bring to the table. It’s a lot of camaraderie and learning as you go.”
