It was in connection with the High Steel Bridge in the state of Washington in the northwestern United States that bad luck – and the subsequent luck – came. The 19-year-old boy – whose name is still unknown to the public – walked down a path marked as dangerous to the public – and fell 120 metres. Rescuers had to use binoculars to locate the teenager, and eventually a firefighter was hoisted down from the bridge to retrieve him. Got a scratch on his arm The guy managed with minimal injuries. According to local media that the British The Guardian refers to, he had only sustained scratches on one arm. Firefighter Matthew Welander says the guy was “crazy lucky”, and urges the public to be careful near the bridge. According to rescue personnel, between five and seven people fall from the bridge each year. “Fortunately, the 19-year-old survived. Many of our other rescue operations do not turn out as well. Remember NOT to go down next to the bridge,” the fire department writes in a Facebook post.
