It was on March 6, 2024 that it occurred. A 19-year-old man was supposed to appear for muster – but he never showed up. Now he is sentenced to a fine of SEK 2,000, writes Today’s Law. The crime he is convicted of is a violation of the law on the duty of total defense.
According to the 19-year-old, he had become sick to his stomach at the time and was therefore unable to attend the muster. According to the man, he had called the same day at 06.00 in the morning without receiving an answer and after that sent an email about the stomach ailment.
Had no medical certificate
The Duty and Examination Board asked for a medical certificate for this. But the 19-year-old could not give it and therefore, according to the court, must be sentenced for “negligently having committed a crime against the law on the duty of total defence. The penalty is determined to be a fine”.
Dagens Juridik further writes that it is clear from the judgment that it is clear that the 19-year-old was called to muster without showing up and that it is clear that he has reported that he was ill at the time.
