The American Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins (19) has become one of the most successful live streamers on YouTube with gaming and football. His enthusiasm for Cristiano Ronaldo knows no bounds. On Friday, February 23rd, the 19-year-old had to play football himself, together and against former world stars like Roberto Carlos and Eden Hazard. That didn’t go so well.
Where did IShowSpeed play?
Blood gruesomeness and chance death
How did IShowSpeed perform? Not good at all.
The young American made an assassination attempt on poor Kaká in the 26th minute and was shown yellow for a tackle from hell.
In the 29th minute he wasted a great chance, completely unmarked, which was handed to him on a silver platter by Eden Hazard, but IShowSpeed kicked the ball wide.
His self-confidence was completely gone when Roberto Carlos tried to encourage him in the dressing room, and IShowSpeed was already at his wits’ end (via Twitter).
Reporters and the perennial enemy scoff
Then how did it get worse? After the match, IShowSpeed had to hear from permanent enemy KSI that he “just sucks.”
He published a picture with the “heat map” from IShowSpeed, which took place in the substitutes’ bench.
He was also teased in an interview after the match. The reporter asked curiously how he could miss so many chances. Then the reporter realized what he had done by asking questions and switched to paternalism.
But the usually fiery American had had enough and ended the interview shaking his head (via Twitter).
“I’m sorry, I’m quitting football. I’m done with this shit.”
This is how IShowSpeed found its performance: The 19-year-old was heartbroken after the match and announced his immediate end to his football career. He apologized to the audience for playing so badly.
However, the fans cheered him up, saying that he had played with a knee injury and that alone deserved respect.
This is what lies behind it: With all the love for IShowSpeed: You could already tell at the Sidemen event in September 2023 that he is a very athletic and motivated young man, but also an American who probably simply never had anything to do with football until a few months ago. Most of the other influencers he plays against often come from Europe, where you are almost inevitably exposed to football in some form when you are young.
