19 people are convicted of terrorist acts in Paris

The main suspect, 32-year-old French-Moroccan Salah Abdeslam, is found guilty on all counts of the terrorist attack in Paris in 2015. He risks being sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release.

Abdeslam was on site in Paris during the act and is said to have driven three suicide bombers to the football stadium Stade de France. After that, according to the prosecutors, he would blow himself up in a café in a popular neighborhood in northern Paris, but regretted it. During the trial, he explained:

– I went into a cafe, I ordered a drink, I looked at the people around me and said to myself: “No, I will not do it”. I regretted humanity.

Relatives of the victims have dismissed his statement as a “fairy tale”.

Long trial

The gigantic trial has been going on since September last year and covers just over one million pages. About 300 lawyers represent the 1,765 relatives and victims. Of the total of 20 accused, 19 are convicted of the terrorist attack in Paris. Only 14 were present at the trial, the others are believed to be dead.

One of the accused is the Swedish citizen, 29-year-old Osama Krayen. He is accused of having provided the attackers with weapons and of logistical support. Osama Krayen’s verdict has not yet been handed down, but is expected to come soon.

The terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015 are the worst in the country’s history in peacetime. In addition to the 130 people who lost their lives during the evening and night of November 13, about 400 people were injured in the various attacks around Paris.

Several attacks

The first attack took place outside the Stade de France football stadium, where France met Germany in a training match. In addition to the three suicide bombers, one person was killed.

Ten minutes later, a number of men opened fire outside two bars in the eastern part of central Paris. The same thing happened at a couple of bars further south in the city. One of the perpetrators detonated a suicide bomb. A total of 39 people and one of the assassins were killed. One of the victims was a young Swede.

Just before 10 pm, three terrorists entered the Bataclan concert hall and opened fire with automatic weapons. 90 people are shot and blown to death before the three perpetrators are killed in a police operation.
