The security police, Säpo, carried out the raid on Wednesday and arrested a man. He was later arrested on suspicion of terrorist offences.
– The crime took place in August 2024 in the Stockholm area. I don’t want to go into what it’s about. There is pre-trial confidentiality, says senior prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist at the National Security Unit.
On Friday afternoon, the prosecutor decided to let the man go free. He is still a suspect, but the suspicion has weakened and the investigation against him continues intensively, according to the prosecutor.
According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the suspect is an 18-year-old young man.
The family in shock: ´Säpo took all the mobiles´
The 18-year-old’s family says that several security police swooped in on Wednesday and carried out a search of their residence.
– We don’t know what happened. He never came home on Wednesday. Then the police came at 12 o’clock in the day and took all the computers, mobile phones, everything. We don’t have any information, we called them yesterday but they said it’s confidential, says a family member.
– It is very troublesome that the police come to our house and that he was arrested.
The family is very surprised by the terror suspicion.
– It’s not easy, it’s a huge shock. It doesn’t feel good. It’s a lot of work. A huge shock.
Several reports of concern: “Observed”
The 18-year-old is already known to social authorities and the police. He appears with a conviction for, among other things, a violent crime that led to him receiving youth care. Before that, he has been suspected of a series of other crimes, which did not lead to prosecution.
The teenager was taken into the care of social services at an early age and has been placed in HVB and Sis homes for, among other things, “socially disruptive and problematic behaviour”.
Over the years, the police and school, but also other bodies, have drawn up several reports of concern about the teenager. The police have also raised the alarm that he was “observed together with people who are known to the police”.
The 18-year-old denies the terror suspicions, according to lawyer Robin Grönvall.
