18 series were mercilessly canceled there were even 2

The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon, which streams on Netflix in Germany, and the hospital series The Good Doctor are very popular. But there is bad news: like the hit police series Blue Bloods, they are among the 18 series that have been canceled or ended and are not returning for new seasons.

At the annual Upfronts event, the four major US networks ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC (The CW has now suspended the event) decide the fate of dozens of series and present the program for the coming season. One Overview of all canceled and ended series we have put together for you here.

Particularly bitter: The last two remaining science fiction series of US network television were also canceled. Since no new ones have been ordered, there will be no more sci-fi material on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC in the coming series season.

ABC ends 6 series: End of spin-offs of The Rookie and Grey’s Anatomy

ABC

The Rookie: Feds

After 7 seasons and 126 episodes The hospital series hit The Good Doctor comes to an end in the USA in May. However, the end of the series was decided in time, so that the story of Dr. Shaun Murphy can be finished properly. In Germany you can watch the first 5 seasons on Netflix and Prime Video. On RTL+, however, you can binge until season 6.

The same applies to the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Seattle Firefighters aka Station 19, which you can stream on Disney+ in this country. Its cancellation after 105 episodes was announced at the start of filming for season 7.

Discontinued after two seasons each, the series Not Quite Dead and Wonderful Years, which can also be seen on Disney+ in this country. The Rookie spin-off, which was canceled after just one season, is streaming all 22 episodes on WOW.

CBS is ending 6 series: Goodbye, Blue Bloods and CSI

CBS

Blue Bloods

The wave of cancellations this year is particularly hard for crime thriller fans. The series NCIS: Hawaii, So Help Me Todd and CSI: Vegas have all been ended without proper completion. Due to the Hollywood strikes, their most recent seasons only consisted of 10 episodes.

Things look a little better with Blue Bloods. This series hit was also canceled (to the displeasure of the series cast), but that is Series ends after 293 episodes still a long way from coming. The final episodes of season 14 will be shown in autumn 2024.

Fox has “only” recorded two series cancellations

Fox

Welcome to Flatch

This year, Fox only has two cancellations. Back in October 2023, it was announced that the mockumentary series Welcome to Flatch would not be returning for further episodes. All two seasons stream in this country on the Sky streaming service WOW. The animated series Housebroken has not yet been released in Germany.

No more sci-fi mysteries: NBC has canceled 4 series

NBC

La Brea

In 2022, a small series universe from CBS, Magnum PI, was finally canceled. But then comes the surprising rescue by rival broadcaster NBC, which commissioned a fifth season of the reboot series. After the ordered 20 episodes, it’s finally over. The series finale aired in the USA on January 3, 2024.

The cancellations of Quantum Leap and La Brea are particularly disappointing as these were the last two sci-fi films from the major networks. The reboot The time travel series Back to the Past was canceled after two seasons and a nasty cliffhanger. The mystery format La Brea, on the other hand, received a planned conclusion after three seasons.
