The largest German film festival returns with a new edition! In February, the Berlinale once again brings together films from all over the world and enables many special cinema encounters. Five German filmmakers made it into the 2023 Berlinale competition: Christian Petzold, Angela Schanelec, Christoph Hochhäusler, Emily Atef and Margarethe von Trotta – all of them familiar names, whose presence at the festival was to be expected. A film that you should definitely make a note of is Past Lives, which premiered a few days ago at the Sundance Film Festival and is coming to Germany as part of the Berlinale. The first reviews have already arrived showered with praise. Director debut Celine Song is the first discovery of the young cinema year.
In addition to the competition, the festival includes many other sections. This also includes the Encounters competition, which includes a total of 15 films.
