– We think it’s good as long as you invest in regional culture, Swedish and Nordic, says Per-Ola Ahlström (SD), who is the first name on the Sweden Democrats’ list for the regional election in Dalarna.
The Liberals have a different opinion
But that view is not shared by, for example, the Liberals who protect artistic freedom.
– If SD only wants to support Swedish and Nordic culture, you must first define what it is, says Martin Johansson, (L) deputy in the region’s culture and education committee.
The major county institutions Dalateatern, Musik i Dalarna and Dalarnas Museum receive just over half of the region’s cultural budget, a total of SEK 93 million goes there. Other events and activities within the county’s cultural sector will share in SEK 83 million.
