The event, expected to attract thousands to the small community, aims to draw in both residents and their returning families who are often visiting for the holiday weekend.

“It’s Thanksgiving and people come with their family and friends,” said fair coordinator Gayle Barker.

“It’s always exciting to see the community come out and celebrate, enjoying all the different activities.”

Barker said people rely on the traditional events that have been part of the fair for years: the baby show, the demolition derby and the wide variety of competitions.

But, she said, the Saturday night battle of the bands, with 10 or 11 groups, has become a popular event with the younger crowd.

“For the first time, we’ve also got a free escape room on Monday and we’re bringing back Little Ray’s Reptile show.”

Barker said a committee of hard-working volunteers has worked for months to prepare the weekend.

Plenty of the activities and competitions are aimed at kids, such as the Captain Corbin Magic Show, a princess/superhero party, a kids roping contest and the Favorite Stuffie competition.

All through the three-day event, there will be a petting zoo, face painting, pony rides and a corn box.

Events for all include a classic car show, pumpkin painting and carving contests, a pancake breakfast on Monday and toilet bowl races on Saturday.

The fair is open on Saturday at 11:30 am with exhibit buildings open from 12:30-7 pm

Sunday, the gates and exhibit buildings open from 11 am to 5 pm

On Thanksgiving Monday, the gates and exhibit buildings are open from 10 am to 4 pm

Daily admission is $12 for adults, $8 for youth five to 17, and children four and under are free. Parking is also free.
