A 35-year-old man is sentenced to 16 years in prison for murdering a 50-year-old man in his home in Falkenberg. The victim was killed with a large number of stab wounds, local media reports.

The murder took place in February last year. When the 50-year-old was found dead, the now convicted man was arrested quite quickly.

He admits to inflicting several stab wounds, but says it was done in self-defense. He also claims that the fatal stab wounds must have been inflicted by a third person, who came to the apartment after he himself had left.

The district court also sees several mitigating circumstances, writes Hallands Nyheter. There may have been an emergency defense at the beginning of the incident, and the now convicted person has a mental disorder.

On the other hand, the 50-year-old was killed with almost mindless violence, which was rather prolonged. It is difficult for the younger man, according to the district court.
