Tells after the murder in the subway: “They should be judged by what they have done”
On the night of January 14 last year, 16-year-old Jakob Hall was attacked with a knife in a subway in Örkelljunga when he was to follow two girls home from a party. Two boys chased him, one of whom Jacob’s knife -stroke over twenty times.
A moment later, the police came home to Jacob’s parents. They told me that their son was at Helsingborg’s laser and that they wanted to drive them there. They barely got in – at the entrance to the hospital, Camilla and Jimmie Hall learned that their 16 -year -old son was dead – murdered.
– I just screamed and collapsed on the hospital floor. The only thing I remember was that they then carried me into the police car and drove me home. And the last thing I remember about that night is that the police say that the psychiatrist exists. Take care of you.
Jealousy behind
It turned out to be childhood friends who attacked Jacob and the subject must have been jealous. The district court sentenced a fifteen -year -old and a sixteen -year -old for murder to two years and ten months of closed youth care. The High Court acquitted the fifteen -year -old for murder and sentenced him to serious abuse. But because of the long detention period, the boy was released. Jacob’s parents have appealed to the Supreme Court which does not grant a trial permit.
– With those punishments, it is equal to the fact that my child’s life is not worth anything in the eyes of the law. Two years and ten months is nothing. Can you go out with a knife, planned as this is, in every detail. Then you should take the penalty thereafter. That he was released the other I do not understand. He has been on the pitch, he has still chased him.
Meeting with Strömmer (m)
The Government’s investigators are now proposing a reduced criminal justice age from 15 to 14 years for serious crimes. The purpose is to access young people who participate in serious crime in criminal gangs, although the investigator emphasizes that there is no scientific support for the measure to lead to reduced crime. Therefore, the age reduction should be limited in time for five years.
In December, Camilla Hall had a meeting with Gunnar Strömmer about children who commit serious crimes. Although experts believe that reduced criminal age does not reduce crime, Camilla thinks a change in the law is needed.
– You should not be judged by how old you are. The young people live on that. I make a crime and then I’m a little youth, so I get a mild punishment. They should not be sentenced by age. They are judged by what they have done. It’s a bit about consequence splashes. If I am an adult enough to murder, I’m an adult enough to take the punishment after.
Shaken the whole of Örkelljunga
The murder has shaken the whole of Örkelljunga. On the anniversary, January 14 this year, hundreds of young people joined to honor Jakob’s memory, including a car card through the resort.
– Jakob was very popular with both children and adults. It got rid of who it was, he said hello and always asked how is it? He could go ahead and give my friends a hug. He was a joy spreader. Wherever he went, it was always bus and riot.
The family often visits Jacob’s grave.
– It is hardly possible to live after losing their child in such a brutal murder, but we fight and take one day at a time.
